What Is This?
As a kid, I always wanted to work in public safety. Growing up, and even through high school, I wanted to be a police officer. In college, I had absolutely ZERO ideas of what I wanted to get a degree in, so I picked two majors; Criminal Justice, and Broadcast Journalism.
Since I no longer wanted to play football, my Freshman year at Adrian College came to an end. I decided it was time to move back home and just start working, and maybe attend school on the side (that didn’t last long). I started off working in security for a local hospital. Some coworkers recommended I go and become a volunteer firefighter at my closest department. I did that for a few years as a hobby, and went on to work for a prison near Indianapolis. Later, I decided that it was time to go full-time with EMS, and part-time with the fire service. I worked for a few different departments throughout my career (most at the same time) and worked full-time for a city EMS system.
Over the course of a decade, I met some amazing individuals, including my wife. I was always interested in hearing their stories, not because they were necessarily exciting to me, but because I wanted to know if what I was feeling was normal. I continued to see how evil this world can be, and how awful people treat other people. I filed those things away in a box inside my brain. Wrapped with chains and other items stacked on top, the box eventually opened.
Today, I want to share some of my stories, and the stories of others from around the country. I want you to hear, first hand, these tales, and know that you are not alone in whatever it is you are going through. The world needs these kind of people to continue to fight evil, and be there for others during the worst days or nights of their life. This world needs people like you…
